Album Info:Utah Railway Company (URC), incorporated in January 1912 and headquartered in its historic Martin (Helper, Utah) office building, is an efficiently run, safe and strongly customer-focused railroad, built on 90 years of service excellence. Customer service provided by highly skilled and dedicated employees has been the cornerstone of Utah Railway's success over the years. We take pride in our can-do attitude toward exceeding our customers' expectations and attracting new customers to the railroad. URC transports more than 90,000 carloads of freight per year in central and northern Utah, including line haul and switching service. We operate over 45 miles of owned track and 378 miles under track access agreements with Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Union Pacific (UP). URC's core business has been the movement of coal. Our railroad has been an integral part of Utah's coal industry, having transported more than 140 million tons of coal in its history. Today URC transports some 60,000 carloads of coal each year for movement to power plants and industrial customers. Additionally, URC acts as a switching agent in the Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden areas of Utah for BNSF. URC has connections with BNSF and UP at Provo and Utah Railway Junction, as well as at Grand Junction, Colorado. We directly serve over 50 shippers of various sizes with volumes ranging from a single car to 100-car unit trains of commodity. URC also owns the Salt Lake City Southern Railroad Company, which serves more than 30 freight customers in the Salt Lake Valley between downtown Salt Lake City and Draper, a distance of 25 miles.
